Service Review: Goodies from Icing on Top, Kemps Corner, Mumbai.

One of the many perks of being a food blogger is that every now and then you get to try new stuff. Being a Guinea Pig is not too bad a thing when it involves yummy baked things! Here is the review for Icing On Top, run by Ayushi Shah in Kemps Corner, South Mumbai. I was sent a cute little bag with samplers of various products, all eggless.

Lets start with the good things! The mini cookies from Icing on Top are to die for. I would actually go back and keep purchasing some whenever I am in the area. The Cinnamon Cookies were melt-in-the-mouth awesome and the Chocolate Chip Cookies were crisp with an element of not wanting to stop eating them. The Lemon Cookies were a superb amalgamation of a mix of flavors and textures! Definitely a must try!

There were also 3 dessert shots. Hazelnut, Berry, and Chocolate. The Berry Shooter was too tart for my liking and the Chocolate one was way too chocolaty. But the Hazelnut Shooter was a winner! Smooth and Silky and rightly balanced both in terms of taste and texture (except for the Marie Biscuit crumb at the bottom they should totally do away with), it did not have the horrible feeling of dessert or mousse sticking on your palate.

The Chocolate Mud Pie had turned into a soaky non moist gump by the time I opened it. I would blame it on the super hot weather since all the other people have been raving about it, but if that is anywhere close to what I got, I would give it a miss.

The Red Velvet Cake was moist, but that is all there was to it. The frosting was just okay and nothing great was going on there. Still, it was pretty good for an eggless version.

The Cake Pops tasted like raw cookie dough and I would give them a miss too. The Oat Granola Bar was also just okay. Nothing too spectacular.

All in all, I would say that Icing on Top surely has some hits but the misses are what matter more. If they maintain consistency and maybe cut down their menu and focus on their strong points they will be here to stay for a long, long time!
